CAZENOVIA, N.Y. -- Cazenovia College students, professors and special guest speakers gathered Monday to discuss the political world.
The 11th annual Wheler Family Conference on World Affairs was held in an effort to instill political interest within the student body.
The event featured seven panelists, a high school sophomore speaker and former Syracuse mayor, the Honorable Thomas Young as keynote speaker.
The conference broke out into separate panel discussions on various political topics where students and panelists could talk one-on-one.
"Things like this allow students to actually talk to politicians, to actually engage with politicians and I think that helps them become more aware of what's going on in the political world," said John Robert Greene, Cazenovia College History and Humanities Professor.
The conference, a U.S. Constitution Day event, was set up 11 years ago to remember and honor those who lost their lives to the 2001 September 11th terrorist attacks.
