JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- A woman has been arrested for abusing her seven-year-old son and leaving him inside her vehicle.

Jefferson County Child Protective Services responded to a vehicle on Fort Drum where they found a seven-year-old child with injuries who had been in the vehicle alone for about 30 minutes.

The child told authorities that his mother, Brandi Rodriquez-Norton, 28, punished him with an electrical cord and switch.

State Police arrested Rodriquez-Norton, who admitted to causing the child's injuries. She has been charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child and was arraigned and jailed on $5,000 bail.
