ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Elmira Police have released the name of the victim in Tuesday morning's shooting. John Lawton, 37, of Elmira was shot in the back of the head while he was walking on the 300 block of Woodlawn Avenue in Hathorn Court just after midnight.

He was taken to Arnot-Ogden Hospital by a private vehicle and is being treated for his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.
