CHENANGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Chenango County man has been arrested following an incident last month where he allegedly fired a gun at Sheriff's deputies and a state trooper. The incident took place on Route 23 in the Town of Pitcher on August 30th.
Deputies say Patrick Ford, 41, of Norwich was driving with his nine-year-old son when he hit a mailbox and became violent. They say Ford held a gun to the head of a man at the home where he hit the mailbox.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they say Ford turned his gun on them and began shooting.
Deputies returned fire, and Ford was shot in the torso. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
Ford was arrested Thursday after he was released from the hospital. He's charged with first-degree attempted murder and is being held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail.
