Police respond to standoff

BOONVILLE, N.Y. -- An Oneida County man is arrested following a two-hour standoff. It happened on East Schuyler Street in Boonville around 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

Boonville Police said James Gydesen, 51, barricaded himself in a shed armed with a gun. Gydesen told police he was armed with a rifle and refused to obey police orders, but eventually surrendered peacefully.

Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies, State Police, and hostage negotiators all assisted Boonville Police in the incident.
