SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It's that time of year when sniffles and sneezes seem to become common sounds everywhere from work, to school, to home.

SUNY Upstate hosted its Fall Fest and Health Fair to help folks stay well this season. Visitors could receive flu shots, get free health screenings, and learn more about services provided in the community.

One popular attraction was a Mercy Flight Central helicopter. Mercy Flight has provided emergency medical transport to the area for 20 years. People were able to get an up close look at one aircraft Saturday.

"Once you start educating people and let them take a look inside the aircraft and actually sit in the aircraft, first of all what it does is if they should happen to use it or have to put a child in that helicopter, it reduces the stress for the parents, and for the patients, too," said Neil Snedeker, Mercy Flight Central President & CEO.

There were also several booths aimed at kids, like this one that offered bike helmet fittings and giveaways.
