OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Oswego rings in the new season with a festival that's been going strong for 21 years. The CNY Great Pumpkin Festival features face painting, pumpkin decorating, music, and rides.

The event is also an official weigh station for the National Great Pumpkin Growers Contest. This year's biggest pumpkin weighed more than 1,500 pounds. There was one squash that even set the state record.

It is the 21st year for the festival, but according to organizers, it gets bigger and better every year.

"It's definitely grown from really just a small pumpkin weigh-in, in its infancy, to what you see here today with crafters and food vendors, and rides and games for kids. It's really just a great family event," said Beth Hilton, Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.

YNN is a proud sponsor of the event.
