SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A woman is facing charges after she allegedly attempted to throw flaming grease at firefighters.
Syracuse Police responded to reports of a house fire around 4 p.m. Sunday on the 100 block of Beard Place. When authorities arrived, 24-year-old Fatima Darby was holding a pan of flaming grease which had spread around the kitchen.
After firefighters forced their way into the home, Darby threw the flaming grease at them, but no one was hurt.
Darby's one-year-old son was in the home at the time and taken to Upstate University Hospital as a precaution.
Police also searched the home for an infant who Darby said was still in the home, but that turned out to be untrue.
Darby is now facing a number of charges - including arson and endangering the welfare of a child. She was also taken to Upstate for burns to her hands.
