SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A large group of heroin distributors were busted by Syracuse Police last week.
The Syracuse Police Department's Special Investigations Division says seven people were arrested. They say the group is responsible for supplying heroin to many lower level dealers in Central New York and is also reportedly involved in a number of weapons related incidents in the city's near west side.
Those arrested were Jonathan Perez, 25, Seandell King, 25, Carlos Hernandez, 23, Felix Vasquez, 20, Adrian Rivera, 40, Pedro Galdon, 48, and Alton West, 23.
SWAT teams recovered about 500 bags of heroin, heroin processing and packaging paraphernalia, a fully loaded rifle, revolver and sub-machine gun and more than $6,000 in cash during three raids.
"So by making these arrests and confiscating the amount of drugs that we did, it’s really going to put a dent in and around Central New York," Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Connellan.
The suspects are facing various charges, such as criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
Police say more arrests are expected.
