ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- It looks like the owners of DeWitt's Shoppingtown Mall will finally make a trip up from Florida to discuss the shrinking retail center's future.
For months, town officials and stakeholders have been asking LNR Property of Florida for more definitive answers on what they plan to do with the mall. Most of those questions went unanswered.
But Senator Charles Schumer announced Monday that the owners have agreed to come in for a meeting this month. Schumer says everyone vested in the mall deserves to have a better idea of what the future holds, so they can plan and budget accordingly. He also adds that he believes mixed-use redevelopment would be the best option for the mall and the community.
