CENTRAL SQUARE, N.Y. -- Oswego Health has opened a new facility in the Village of Central Square, offering urgent care services.
The Central Square Medical Center opened its doors to the public Monday morning. In addition to urgent care treatment, the facility also offers physical therapy, lab work and medical imaging, such as CT scans.
This is the first urgent care facility in the Central Square area. Before it opened, residents had to drive at least 30 minutes away for that type of treatment.
"We've had to have people go to Oswego or Fulton or Syracuse. As you can imagine, it's miles and minutes from here, especially if you have an urgent need medically or have to call an ambulance, so having this here opens up a whole new facility for our area," Central Square Mayor Millard Murphy said.
"We've been very well received by the community. We've already seen 14 patients. Everyone seems to be very excited, the community is very happy we're here, very receptive," said Christine Close, Central Square Medical Center Clinical Nurse Manager.
The facility also features a women's center, where patients can undergo ultrasounds, mammograms and other procedures in a private setting, separate from the rest of the patients.
The urgent care center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
