BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Broome County Sheriff's office says a Binghamton woman illegally obtained prescription drugs by impersonating a doctor.

Investigators say Danielle Phillips, 28, attempted to fill a false prescription at the CVS pharmacy on Upper Front Street after acting as a doctor. They say Phillips had already successfully obtained pain pills from the CVS pharmacy on an earlier date.

The pharmacists became suspicious after a second attempt was made to obtain the drugs through a phone call.

Phillips was arrested Monday at the pharmacy and has been charged with criminal possession and attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance.
