Teen pleads guilty in deadly crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Franklin County teen has pleaded guilty following last year's car crash that killed another teen. Authorities say Tanya Menke, 17, of Brushton was driving in Brandon back in December 2011 when she ran a stop sign, lost control of her car and hit a tree.

Brooke Lyon, 16, was killed in the crash and another passenger, Alexis Colette, 17, was seriously injured.

Menke was arrested in May in connection with the crash and has since admitted to driving with only a learner's permit and smoking pot before the crash. She pleaded guilty in court to criminally negligent homicide and second-degree vehicular assault.

Menke will be sentenced in December.
