OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- Authorities in Otsego County are searching for a man who attempted to rob a woman. Police say the incident happened near Beaver Street and Fair Street in Cooperstown around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say an employee of Bassett Medical Center was approached by a man who asked for her wallet, and the victim was hit with a sharp object when she did not give it to him. She was treated at Bassett Medical Center for unknown injuries.

The suspect is described as about 20 years old, 5’4” to 5’6”, and about 160 pounds. Police say he was wearing a sweatshirt and dirty blue jeans. They also say his teeth were in extremely poor condition.
