SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A nearly 100-year-old local agency held a luncheon to honor and thank volunteers and corporate sponsors. Huntington Family Centers held the luncheon Wednesday at the Genesee Grand Hotel in Syracuse.
The agency has been helping Syracuse's Westside community since 1919. They provide support to families, youth, and seniors through an emergency food clothing pantry.
Officials at Huntington Family Centers say the three honorees are important to the function of the agency.
"These folks really do this tirelessly without any real wish for recognition. In fact, we have to encourage them to accept the honor and accept the award at the luncheon. But it's important to us to thank the folks in the community who are helping us live out our mission," said Mary Lou Sayles, Executive Director.
