Authorities investigate petition forgery claims
MADISON COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Madison County Sheriff's Office is investigating complaints of alleged forgery on local political petitions.
Officials say residents in Oneida claim petitions for Assemblyman Bill Magee were forged. At least one resident tells police her signature or address was used on two different pages, and with two different signatures.
Sheriff's Deputies say the complaints are mainly against Magee, as his petition was disqualified by the Board of Elections. They also say there is a complaint against a petition for District Attorney Bill Gabor as well, but because his petition was accepted by the board, it cannot be investigated by their office.
The Sheriff's office is asking anyone who believes their signature has been forged to file a complaint at their office.
