SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A Syracuse woman is facing animal cruelty charges after her pit bull was found abandoned and abused. Police say the animal was turned into dog control on Monday and was extremely emaciated, dehydrated, had an eye infection at the time.

With the help of some tips, Syracuse Police's new animal cruelty investigator was able to track down the owner. Marquette Jamison, 35, admitted the pit bull was hers, and that she knew it was in bad shape but didn't have the money to take care of it.

Jamison is charged with two counts of animal cruelty, a misdemeanor, and was released on an appearance ticket.
