OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- Governor Cuomo has signed new legislation to help the fight against EEE, West Nile, and other mosquito-borne illnesses in Oswego County. The new law, sponsored by Senator Patty Ritchie, will provide up to $100,000 in additional reimbursement for aerial spraying over state land.

Up until now, the state reimbursed counties for only half the cost of mosquito treatments. But this new legislation increases the reimbursement rate to 100 percent over state owned land, which officials say makes up a large portion of potentially infected regions of Oswego County.
