SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Close to a thousand people filled Clinton Square in Syracuse in support of cancer research. Wednesday night's annual Light the Night Walk benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The goal of the walk is to raise funds for the society and cancer research, and ultimately to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives to cancer. Organizers are amazed by the support that they say grows with every year.
"You know it's touched all of our lives at one time or another, and the folks that are here are committed to raising funds so we can find a cure for this disease," said Sandro Mironti, Event Sponsor Spokesman.
Last year's event raised more than $100,000, and this year, organizers are hoping to surpass that.
