Child found living in unsanitary conditions
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A Syracuse woman was arrested for allegedly locking her child in an unsanitary room for nearly 22 hours at a time.
DeWitt Police say they responded to a home on East James Street after Child Protective Services received a tip about the home. They say an investigation found that the child's mother, Heather Lacey, 25, routinely locked her three-year-old son in a bedroom for up to 22 hours a day with no bathroom.
Police say the child's bed, floor and walls were covered in urine and fecal matter.
The boy was taken from the home and placed in foster care.
Lacey has been charged with unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
