WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- It's a new feature Google is trying out: Taking its street view and opening up doors to show you inside local businesses.
A photographer from Google has been in Watertown the past few days, taking pictures inside 15 or so local businesses. Google is adding the 360 degree photos to its popular street view.
People are now able to get on their computer and check out the inside of participating restaurants and stores before deciding to go there. It's a feature Google says should be very popular.
"This enables the business to present the inside of their business, the professionalism, the ambiance, the essence of what they're all about, right in the palms of people's hands when they're in the area making the decision to spend money at that business," said Google photographer Jim Hilker.
Google says it'll be visiting Syracuse, Utica-Rome and Binghamton in the coming weeks and any businesses interested in taking part should fill out a form at www.streetviewindoors.com.
