BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Sales tax is a topic the two County Executive candidates could possibly debate, but there is still no word on if and when it will take place.

In the meantime, Tarik Abdelazim is holding a series of Town Hall forums, one of which took place Thursday at the Broome County Library. The democratic candidate did have a chair and name tag reserved for his opponent, but it went unfilled.

County Legislator Joe Merrill spoke at the meeting, saying he is willing to coordinate a debate between any two candidates running for office on his own dime.

Abdelazim says Debbie Preston has a standing invitation and if she decides to join him at one of the forums, he will gladly switch to a debate format.
