PULASKI, N.Y. -- Anglers from across the northeast and beyond are casting their lines in Pulaski this weekend. The second annual Salmon River Fishing Derby and Festival is underway.

The standard has already been set with a 30-plus pound fish. But, many said there are bigger fish in the river, so there is still time to beat the competition. The fishing will continue until 3:00 p.m.

"There's more fish in here than we've seen since the early 1980s, the natural run is absolutely incredible. The fish are big and the fish are here in big numbers," said Vernon Chamberlain, Derby Organizer.

Last year's winner was able to walk off with more than $2,000. In addition to the fishing festival, there is also live music, food vendors, and family activities.
