CONSTANTIA, N.Y. -- Some Oswego County scouts are trying to spruce up a place for children to play. One local troop is fixing up a Constantia basketball court.
On Sunday, blackboards were installed at David Webb Memorial Park in the town. Now, the troop will have to reseal the pavement and repaint the lines. Troop members learn how to organize a project, and raise money to help the community.
"I'm learning how to be a leader and lead my troop in how to do the project and teamwork, and stuff because a lot of the challenges involve more than one people," said DJ Patchen, who working on the project.
Scott Weir, the scoutmaster, added, "This court actually gets quite a bit of use. In the first day we were out here, we had quite a few people stop by and thank us. So its a good feeling for the boys."
For some of the youngsters involved, the project is part of the process of becoming an Eagle Scout.
