POMPEY, N.Y. -- A festival in Pompey gave residents the chance to enjoy some fall treats, while also helping to preserve the town's history. The Pompey Pumpkin Fest supports the town's historical society.
It features a lot of family-friendly activities, including a puppeteer, live music, and pumpkin carving, along with a lot of pumpkin treats. Organizers said the event also gave kids the chance to do some hands-on learning.
"They can see how some of the pumpkin foods are made. Pies, cookies, muffins. And, at the apple press, how to make cider. They let the children participate and grind it," explained James Alexander, Pumpkin Fest Chairman.
This marked the fifth year for the Pompey Pumpkin Fest.
