BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Hundreds of people lined the streets of Binghamton to celebrate Columbus Day. Monday marked the 53rd Annual Columbus Day Tournament of Bands Parade in the city. Nine local high school marching bands competed this year.

Southern Tier politicians and Italian community organizations also marched in the parade.

Last year's celebration was canceled due to the flood.

"It was really sad because we always come here every year as a family, its hard for all our family to get here together. So it's definitely nice to be here, another memory, another year we do it," said Alisha Hartwell, Bainbridge resident.

The parade was followed by an Italian Festival downtown.
