Cherry Valley man killed by falling tree

OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- One man is dead after being hit by a fallen tree while logging in Otsego County.

Sheriff's deputies say they received a 911 call just after 6:30 p.m. Monday, reporting a man had been trapped under a fallen tree off of Van Derwerker Road in the Town of Cherry Valley. Responders found Robert Lusk, 66, approximately three-tenths of a mile into the woods. He had been hit from behind by a previously cut tree, which fell as he was cutting up a log.

Lusk was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive internal injuries.
