Malnourished dog seized by SPCA
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The SPCA has seized another malnourished animal after trying to help the owner take care of the dog.
Officials say they received approximately one tip a week on their hotline regarding the lack of care the 18-month old Shar pei mix was receiving. Investigators visited Leroy Hackett, 50, at his home in Syracuse and advised him on how to take proper care of his dog. They also set up an vet appointment but when Hackett didn't show up, they decided to seize the dog.
Hackett is now facing charges for failing to provide medical care and failure to provide sustenance to an animal. He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in court next week.
