ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Dredging is set to resume on Onondaga Lake Thursday. It came to a halt on September 20th after odor complaints from residents in the area of the waste bed in the Town of Camillus.
The DEC pointed to that disposal site as a possible culprit and said it was not uncommon to have an odor caused by a cleanup project like this one.
Honeywell says the company has taken various measures over the past couple of weeks to improve odor control. Among those changes, they have installed a misting system, temporarily shut down water storage basins and installed a carbon filtration system to further minimize odors.
Honeywell says it also has a team in place to monitor odors 24 hours a day.
