ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Syracuse man accused of murdering his father last year has pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter Thursday morning.

Herman Tolbert Jr., 23, was accused of forcing his way into his parents' home in the Town of Clay and stabbing his father after an argument in August of 2011. His father, Herman Tolbert Sr., 68, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say Tolbert also stole his father’s car, which led detectives to believe he was the one responsible.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 4th.
