BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Deputy Chief John Barber returned to the witness stand as the federal discrimination trial of Ithaca police officer Chris Miller continues in Binghamton Federal Court.

Miller has accused Barber and other members of the Ithaca Police Department of discrimination and retaliation.

Under cross examination, Barber was asked about several meetings that occurred with Miller and incidents where discipline was imposed on the plaintiff. Barber says Miller once had the ability to be a good cop, but chose not to be and says police administration only held him accountable for his actions.

The jury also heard testimony from a clerk from the Ithaca Police Department, as well as former Deputy Chief David Barnes and the Tompkins County District Attorney.

Miller is suing the City of Ithaca for $19 million in damages.
