SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse University Head Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim was given quite the honor on Friday night as he entered his 37th season. Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney was at the annual Midnight Madness event to name October 12th as Jim Boeheim Day.

The Carrier Dome was packed with more than 15,000 fans for Friday's Orange Madness event as it kicked off the 2013 SU basketball preseason. Both the men's and women's teams were able to run drills and show off their skills with a dunk contest.

Fans can expect to see returning starters C.J. Fair and Brandon Triche on the men's team. And for the women's team, they will have sniors Kayla Alexander, Elashier Hall, Carmen Tyson-Thomas, and junior Rachel Coffey. Coach Quentin Hillsman will also be returning.
