SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A popular park is reopening in Syracuse after a lengthy renovation project.
Many improvements were made to Webster Pond off of Valley Drive in the city. New retaining walls and a rain garden was put in to protect the water. Also, new sidewalks will help people walk through the park.
Leaders say it’s important to protect the natural treasures Syracuse has to offer.
"We just have to keep on making them better. A lot of people travel to different cities to see parks, why not travel to Syracuse and do the same thing. We have to constantly make an investment to keep what we have looking well," said Syracuse Park and Recreation Commissioner Baye Muhammad.
A total of $45,000 in state grants paid for the improvements.
