SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse Police are asking the public to be vigilant as they search for a man wanted in an attack at the downtown YMCA this weekend.

Detectives say English Rogers, 50, entered the residential floor of the building on Montgomery Street around 12:30 p.m. Saturday and made his way into the room of Matthew Jefski, 41, and stabbed him in the neck.

Jefski is being treated at Upstate University Hospital and remains in critical condition.

Rogers, who also goes by the names Amos and Leverne, should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police are asking anyone with more information on his whereabouts to call (315) 442-5222 or dial 911.
