SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- If you're planning to travel east through Syracuse this weekend, especially for the SU football game Friday night, you'll want to avoid Interstate 690.

The interstate will be closed eastbound from the West Street exit to Teall Avenue starting at 9 a.m. Friday through Monday afternoon. The closure is due to construction on the bridge over North Crouse Avenue.

Last week, crews replaced the deck on the bridge on the west side, so now they're working on the opposite side.

There are detours posted for drivers trying to travel eastbound on 6-0 from various directions. Drivers should expect delays no matter what, whether they're avoiding the area completely or taking the detours.

Detours:

Traffic continuing onto 690 East:
Exit at West Genesee Street, turn left onto West Genesee Street to James Street, turn right onto Oswego Boulevard, turn left onto Erie Boulevard East, then enter 690 East at Teall Avenue.

Traffic coming from 81 North onto 690 East:
Exit at Adams Street, continue straight onto Almond Street, turn right onto Erie Boulevard East, then enter 690 East at Teall Avenue.

Traffic coming from 81 South onto 690 East:
Exit at Clinton Street, continue straight on Clinton Street, turn left onto West Genesee Street to James Street, turn right onto Oswego Boulevard, turn left onto Erie Boulevard East, then enter 690 East at Teall Avenue.
