SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A 65-year-old Syracuse man has been killed in his home and police say his seven-year-old son saw it happen.

Police found Jerry Mack, 65, dead in his home at 221 West Kennedy Street around 2 a.m. Friday after receiving a 911 call.

The victim's seven-year-old son, who was there at the time, managed to get out to go for help. A good Samaritan picked the boy up and took him to his grandmother's and that's when they called 911.

"That's a very important piece of information for us. We're asking the public if there's anyone out there or if that good Samaritan hears this, we'd like to talk to that person," said Sgt. Tom Connellan.

Police say three men were involved in the attack and the victim did not have any criminal history, so they believe the homicide may have been the result of a robbery.

If you have any information about this attack, call Syracuse Police at (315) 442-5222.
