SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Some welcomed news for people coming in for the SU game at the Carrier Dome. The Interstate 690 East closure scheduled for this weekend is postponed for a week.
Workers had already started doing prep work and placing lane closures when the State DOT commissioner decided to delay the closure. Traffic is expected to be congested because of the game at the Dome. It's part of the Governor's Drivers First initiative which tries to limit impact on drivers.
DOT Commissioner Joan McDonald said, "Last evening and early this morning we were reviewing those impacts and I made the decision that the impact to the community of Syracuse and participants of the football game would be too great."
The closure will now begin next Friday and run through the weekend, reopening Monday, October 29th
