HAMMONDSPORT, N.Y. -- The Coolest Small Town in America could be getting even more cool, with a new resort moving into the area. Gold Seal Enterprise held an open house Saturday to inform the community about its plan.

"When we show everyone what we're doing and how many people we're going to employ and what types of businesses we're going to have here," said John Giglio, Gold Seal Enterprise co-owner.

The Giglio's bought the 23 acres three years ago and have been working inside the building, which was the former home of Urbana Winery.

"Salvaging some of the equipment that was in here and taking out some of the wine tanks and wine casks so we could make room to do what we want to do as far as making a resort out of it," said Giglio.

The project is expected to create 150 jobs for the area. People will build villas, shopping centers and community areas that will bring in various events. Architects are trying to make this an iconic place.

"Studying architecture in Europe I saw the European connection, a world class site of 23 acres and I thought, you know this just might work as a world class international resort and business center," said John Lusk with JHL Tecture Architects.

When the project is completed designers hope visitors will also be able to enjoy the beauty of the Finger Lakes.

"Really be a centerpiece that anyone can come, the housewife, the husband from Sacramento to a Sheik from Arabia and feel at home here and find everything they need here and really experience the unique beauty and unique features of the Finger Lakes," said Lusk.

Construction is expected to begin this coming spring.
