WHITESBORO, N.Y. -- Many came out to support a park that will honor a fallen sheriff's deputy.

Organizers held a fall festival on Saturday with soccer games, face painting, bounce houses and more. Money raised will go to the development of the Deputy Kurt B. Wyman Memorial Park.

Wyman was with the Oneida County Sheriff's Office when he was killed in the line of duty more than a year ago.

Organizers say they hope this park will be another way to keep his legacy alive.

"Basically that park will have a monument, it will have a playground for kids, it'll have state of the art soccer fields, so today this is a way for the community to come together to support that cause and make sure we get off to a good start," said Committee Member David Sherline.

Committee members say they are hoping to raise at least $750 thousand dollars to begin the construction and development of the park.
