MONROE COUNTY, N.Y. -- The man accused of killing his girlfriend in her College at Brockport campus dorm room pleaded not guilty to murder charges in court Thursday.
Clayton Whittemore is accused of killing Alexandra Kogut, 18, last month. Families and friends filled the courtroom, some crying. Monroe County District Attorney Sandy Doorley is handling case.
Whittemore walked in to court handcuffed wearing a brown jail jumpsuit. Court paperwork states Whittemore used his fists and a curling iron to beat Kogut to death.
Whittemore is charged with one count of second degree murder. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
He is being held in the Monroe County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to return to court in December.
