ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A man accused of setting fire to an apartment complex garage in an attempt to commit insurance fraud has been indicted by a grand jury.
Christopher Deverso, 40, was indicted by a grand jury Thursday for third and fourth degree arson, insurance fraud and conspiracy.
Authorities say Deverso and an accomplice, Robert Swartz, intentionally set a fire that destroyed a garage at the Norstar Apartments in Liverpool back in July.
Investigators say the fire started in a double unit where Deverso kept two 1967 Chevy Camaros. They say he and Swartz set the unit on fire so Deverso could collect insurance on the cars, totaling almost $80,000.
