SYRACUSE, N.Y. –- It’s an interesting program that Le Moyne is using to show off particularly some of its newer facilities and renovated areas. The college worked with Google Business to develop virtual tours of eight facilities which you can find on the school's website.
The new technology allows prospective students and guests to go online and tour each one of the facilities without stepping a foot on campus.
College officials say Google had a photographer visit campus, take photos, and put the virtual images together. Visitors can scroll online to get a 360 degree view inside facilities like Le Moyne's new science building, plaza, and the dining center.
The technology is encouraging more people to check out the campus.
"We've got some great new facilities and some facilities that have been here a while that we really want to show off and get out there in front of the prospective students. And, this will be a big help with our recruiting efforts," said Joe Della Posta, Le Moyne College Communications Dir.
This is similar to the "street view" technology you may have seen on Google Maps, only this takes you inside facilities.
Many restaurants and retailers around the country have also started to use this in the last few months.
