Part of Interstate 690 east closed, due to construction
It's a week later than expected, but commuters on this Friday are getting a taste of the Interstate 690 east closure in Syracuse. Our Lacey Leonardi has more from the traffic studio on the delays and our Katie Gibas has more from out front of our building on how Erie Boulevard East is looking.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Crews started working around 9 a.m. Friday at the North Crouse Street Bridge over Interstate 690. A portion of Interstate 690 east stretching from the Interstate 81 interchange to Teall Avenue will be closed through the weekend.
Two weeks ago, crews replaced the deck on the westbound side of the bridge and now they'll be working on the eastbound side. This was the closure that was supposed to take place last weekend, but the DOT decided to postpone the work due to last Friday night's SU football game.
Drivers on Interstate 690 east coming from the west will be forced to exit using the West Street or West Genesee Street ramps. In addition, if you're downtown, you can't access the Almond Street Interstate 690 east onramp. You can get on Interstate 690 east by way of the Teall Avenue onramp.
If you're on either Interstate 81 north or south, follow the detour signs to Erie Boulevard East and you can get back on at Teall Avenue or Midler Avenue.
This construction is expected to last through Monday afternoon.
