HORSEHEADS, N.Y. -- An elderly driver was killed while driving the wrong way in Interstate 86. It happened in the town of Horseheads around 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Witnesses told deputies that a car driven by Charles Tate, 90, entered the eastbound side of the highway from the State Route 13 ramp, while driving westbound. Tate hit a utility truck that was hauling a pole trailer.

Tate died at the scene, but the other driver was not hurt. Investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash.
