SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- While Governor Cuomo is overseeing storm preparations downstate, his Lieutenant Governor has been making stops at emergency preparedness offices across the Upstate region.

Robert Duffy says it is vital for all New Yorkers, even those on the very fringes of the storm, to be ready for whatever might happen.

Duffy said, "We're not trying to cry wolf on this. We're not trying to go overboard, but we want people to realize this is a serious storm that's hitting our state and our region. And it is not going to go through without, probably, some extensive damage someplace, in terms of a combination of wind and water damage. So, the most important thing for us to preserve life is to make sure people heed those warnings and stay inside. "

Duffy says the state has never been as well prepared for a storm as it is for Sandy.
