OSWEGO, N.Y. -- With strong wind comes high waves and in Oswego, you could see those waves from Lake Ontario coming up over the break walls in the harbor.

Members of the Coast Guard said there was a chance the waves could reach up to 20 feet during the night. They want to remind the public to stay away from the water, but if it's necessary to go by the coast, wear a life jacket.

But even with such high waves, the Coast Guard said flooding was also not a huge concern.

"The harbor in Oswego is protected really well by three break walls, so that cuts down a lot of the city area from being at too much risk, but along the coast line for anybody in houses, just try to stay inside, just stay as safe as possible, don't put yourself in that danger,” said Chad Martin of the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard remained on standby for emergencies, but didn't anticipate any problems.
