Former trooper killed in Franklin County crash
FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Investigators say a man killed Monday in a North Country crash was a former State Trooper who received the agency's highest award for bravery.
It happened Monday morning on State Route 37 in the town of Westville.
Troopers say Anthony Bailey, 49, of Malone, crossed the center line and hit a tractor-trailer head on. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Bailey retired as a trooper in March after 20 years with Troop B. He received the Brummer Award for attempting to rescue a woman from a submerged car in 2000.
