MATTYDALE, NY -- Crews spent about an hour clearing the scene of a jackknifed tractor trailer on the New York State Thruway Tuesday afternoon.

The rig went off the road shortly before noon on the eastbound offramp at exit 36 (I-81). The roads were wet, but it's not yet clear what caused the driver to lose control.

Police were on the scene within minutes and were able to steer traffic on the offramp around the disabled vehicle. Eastbound vehicles were not affected.
