SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse police are investigating a rash of violence that broke out in the city Tuesday and early Wednesday morning. Those incidents include four shootings and three stabbings.

It all started with the first shooting on Tuesday afternoon and ended with a street robbery that led to a stabbing early Wednesday morning. No arrests have been made.

The most serious incident was the Oakwood Avenue shooting. Police say just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Two men forced their way into 42-year-old John Moore's home. During a struggle, Moore was shot. He was rushed to Upstate University Hospital for emergency surgery.

Officials say at this point, it is still unclear if the incidents are related and now they are reaching out to neighbors for help.

"The biggest piece of the puzzle is the public. If people have information on handguns, people that might have guns, people that are committing these shootings, that's the type of information that we need. We can act on that information relatively quickly if we have it," said Sgt. Tom Connellan of the Syracuse Police.

Police believe each of the shooting victims were targeted. Wednesday, investigators from the gang unit visited neighborhoods. Officers say they recovered several handguns.
