UNITED STATES -- There are so many ways you can help. First off, you can help with the basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, and clothing. New York City, New Jersey, Long Island, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island all have emergency shelters that would gladly take your donation.

If you can't make it to a shelter yourself, you can always donate money to organizations that can.
Two of the major ones are the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

Another option, if you can make it down to the areas affected by Sandy, is to help with the cleanup. Some organizations already rounding up volunteers are Team Rubicon, New York Cares, and Samaritan's Purse.

Or, you can always donate blood. Sandy forced the Red Cross to cancel a lot of their blood drives so their supplies are low. You can see if you're an eligible donor on their website, and where you can go if you are.
